A Christite's Urge to Fly

By sharanyafep

The title of this article may suggest that it's a tear-jerker about an aspiring, beaten back so-and-so who wants to be famous by breaking free of the restraints currently holding her back.
NO WAY! The title holds true only in the most banal, slapstick and obvious meaning. Yes, I want to be able to fly. It is my belief that as a Chrisitite the only way that I will be able to survive my college years is to be able to fly.
This urge to take flight originates from a very common problem we face while entering or leaving our revered institution. Little did I know that crossing a road isn't just crossing a road anymore! It's putting yourself in almost certain mortal danger! One has to lay out a plan of action; contingency plans have to be established! The traffic a few yards from our college gate is impossible! Being one of the busiest roads in town, Hosur road is host to every single kind of vehicle, from rickety buses to pushy cyclists. If you are lucky enough to get past the stream of unending traffic, you walk into the welcoming quiet of the college, sparing a moment to glance sullenly at the dysfunctional traffic light right outside the gates.
With the constant impending threat and insults being hurled at you at sixty kilometers per hour, if you say that crossing roads doesn't bother you in the least then it means that you are thick-skinned and fearless. Being a pedestrian is not an easy job. We students are aware of that. We have to be constantly on guard. But the fact that we have to deal with speeding buses and cars whose drivers, more often than not, glare at you menacingly , and try to run you over right outside your college? I think that's a tad unfair! And so as a Christite who wants to get through college unscathed, it is in the interest of my very survival to be able to fly!
On a more serious note, I'm sure my colleagues will agree when I say that our college is in desperate need of an over bridge. It won't be necessary for the traffic to keep slowing down at our junction and we can be assured of our safety while crossing the road! It is so easy for one misstep to cause a tragedy and having lost one student already to this modern-murderer we should take the logical road and petition for a over-bridge to be built that will set not only college authorities at ease but its currently on-edge students as well.
