The Computer Society of India – Loyola Students' Chapter, conducted their first official event today. The event was a workshop on Caricature: Digital Cartoons, which took place in the Yeddanapalli Hall, Chemistry Block , at the Loyola College. As V.P. VIPIN, the Secretary celled up for the prayer song, everyone stood in reverence for God. The prayer song was sung by Mercelin, Mercy, Alicia, Jasmine and Subha of II M.Sc(C.S). The session started off at 4:45, with a few words given by the Computer Science Department Co-Ordinator, Prof. Bharathidasan, who welcomed the gathering.

Our Chief Guest for the day was Mr. S. Ramasamy, the Vice-Chairman of the CSI- Chennai Chapter for the year 2008-09. Sathish Joseph, President, remembers make a brief introduction about our Chief Guest and thanked Mr.J.Jerald Inico, the Staff Co-Ordinator of CSI-LOYOLA students chapter and quoted him as a true Students Leader for all his support and concern. When requested to share a few words, Our Chief Guest, shared with us a few inspiring thoughts regarding his dreams and his expectations from the CSI chapter of the Loyola College. The event then proceeded on with the release of the CDs of the CSI-

Loyola Students' Chapter Inaugural Ceremony. Rev Dr S Arockia Samy SJ Vice Princiapl released the CD and the mementos were given to the guests of honour. Our HOD, Prof A Francis Savior Devraj, and Mr.J.Jerald Inico, the Staff Co-Ordinator of CSI-LOYOLA students chapter, who had been of valuable support to the CSI-LOYOLA students chapter were also present, adding more euphoria to the event.

The mic was then handed over to the speakers of the day, Mr. Ravichandran and Mr. Sivakumar, who then proceeded on with the workshop on Digital Caricature. The workshop consisted of some interesting tutorials and some samples from Mr. Ravichandran's works on Digital Caricature in Flash and Digital Painting in Photoshop. The session went on as Mr. Ravichandran drew a caricature of our Principal on the screen for us, and had also prepared an animation of that caricature as well. They touched the basics of animation using Flash and it's importance in today's multimedia industry. There were also a lot of tips and tricks, for all those interested in the animation business. After a wonderful session, the Chief Guest honoured all the Office Bearers of the CSI – Loyola Students' Chapter with mementos.

Overall, the session went on quite well and there were smiles on all our faces at the end of the day. The CSI-LOYOLA has also planned to conduct job-oriented certificate course on Digital Cartoon Designing which will be beneficiary to the CSI-LOYOLA students in the long run.
