Reporter - Abid Ahmed has in this issue, presented an exciting cocktail made by an ex- student last year for a competition and also an overview of an interesting event in the world of beverages.

Here’s the Alumnus Special from Vineet Nair, most popular in college for his deep ,sonorous voice as for his wit sans wisdom .He ,was one who excelled in his specialization and brought home several laurels for the college. He presently works for The Park- Vizag as Management Trainee and continues to keep the college flag flying high .

This particular cocktail was the toast of the last season and created quite an upset in many competitions when done with the flair and poise of Mr. Vineet Nair. It was called the “Coalition” and was created to celebrate the coalition government in Karnataka. The Crème de Menthe represented the JDS and the Orange Juice, BJP. It was a shaken to indicate the turbulence of the govt. formation. The sugar syrup and lime juice was indicative of the bittersweet relationship of the coalition. On leaving it for some time, the layers separated and the crème de menthe settled at the bottom which brought forth the reality of the govt. that JDS was the foundation of the coalition but ultimately they could not get along and it was served on ice to indicate the cold shoulder each received.

The Coalition
? 1 oz. Crème de Menthe
? 3 oz. Orange Juice
? ½ oz. Lime Juice
? ½ oz. Sugar syrup
? Shake and pour over ice into a Martini glass
? Garnish with a slice of orange and mint leaves

P.S. In the annual cocktail festival held in New Orleans on April 2007, Bartender Ms. Stacy Smith of G. W Finns won the competition for her champagne based cocktail, The Starfish Cooler. !! You must try it out !!

? 1 oz. Moët and Chandon White Star Champagne
? 1 oz. Lemoncello
? 1 oz. Pomegranate Liqueur
? 1 oz. Un-sweet Iced Tea
? ½ oz. Simple Sugar Syrup
? Muddle orange slice and mint leaf in Collins glass.
