The year 2009 opened with the SRM Mens' Basketball team coming third in the Anna University, Zone 4 Finals and the Mens' Kabbadi team bagging the second prize. In individual event, Prithvi of Second year, Electronics and Communication department, won the first prize in Tamil Nadu Open Skating Championship.
